Overview

System Requirements Document (SRD)

The URD validation criteria are used to inform the development of detailed acceptance criteria contained within the System Requirements Document (SRD) which must be sufficiently comprehensive to provide assurance that the capability requirements will be met under all operational conditions. The SRD is often used to develop the Integrated Test and Acceptance Plan (ITEAP), which details how compliance with each SRD requirement will be demonstrated.

Task Description

Your team must now develop SRD requirements, building upon on the Scenario Description and your URD requirements.

Part 1 – Develop SRD

Using the:

Populate the SRD table with Safety Requirements, noting that:

      • Each URD Safety Requirement should have one or more associated SRD Safety Requirements
      • Additional URD Safety Requirements may need to be added, to support SRD requirements identified later in the acquisition process.

To help develop a set of SRD Safety Requirements to support the workshop, you may want to include some of the following URD requirements in your SRD table.

      • The system shall be developed to recognised safety standards
      • The Target Safety Objective for the project shall be <1E-6 catastrophic repercussions per year
      • All risks shall be reduced to at least Tolerable Levels that are ALARP
      • The system shall be safe to operate at all expected pressures (<20bar>8bar)
      • The system shall provide for safe & environmentally compliant disposal of non oil product (Gas and Water)
      • The system shall comply with applicable safety legislation
      • The system shall be able to be isolated from the well head within 10 seconds
      • The system shall be able to be isolated from the tanker within 10 seconds
      • The system shall includes means to prevent overpressure

The system shall includes means to prevent over pressure

367 1 User shall be compliant with Legislation, including HSE Legislation Safety Meet the legislation legislative compliant system and avoid unacceptable risk to personnel working around the system.
368 2 Isolate the Well Head from Oil Transfer System within 10 seconds Performance Isolate Well Head from Oil SSTS within 10 seconds Maximise safety. minimise platform down time
369 3 Ability to receive crude oil from the extraction point off the rig, at pressures up to 20 bar Performance Pressure up to 20 bar Maximise safety, minimise platform down time
370 4 Comply with Regulations Safety Compliance with Regulations such as; (i) noise at work regulations, (ii) control of pollutions Ensure adherence to Health & Safety practices and legal compliance
371 5 Capability shall provide for extraction of crude oil from provided hydrocarbons (from well head) Performance Seperation of Crude Oil into; (i) gas, (ii) water, (iii) sediment, (iv) processed oil Fulfilment of design intent
372 6 Capability shall provide for storage of crude oil Performance tbc Fulfilment of design intent
373 7 Capability shall provide for transfer of crude oil to tanker Performance tbc Fulfilment of design intent
374 8 Capability shall provide for measurement of offloaded oil (to tanker) Performance tbc Fulfilment of design intent
375 9 Capability shall provide for continuous operations Performance Duty/standby? Something for reliability / integrity levels Fulfilment of design intent

444 User shall be compliant with Legislation, including HSE Legislation 1 The SSTS shall comply with all relevant current and known impending EU and UK Health and Safety legislation.
445 Isolate the Well Head from Oil Transfer System within 10 seconds 2 The SSTS shall be able to isolate from the Well Head, to cease movement of oil, within 10 seconds of activation of an Emergency Stop signal being sent from any point for oil flow chain
447 The system shall be able to be isolated from the tanker within 10 seconds 3 The SSTS shall be able to isolate from the tanker, to cease movement of oil, within 10 seconds of activation of an Emergency Stop signal being sent from any point for oil flow chain
448 The system shall includes means to prevent overpressure 4 The SSTS shall be able to safely manage overpressure of greater than 20 Bar
449 The Target Safety Objective for the project shall be <1E-6 catastrophic repercussions per year 5 The Systems safety target for an catastrophic repercussions per year is <1E-6. The SSTS shall met the Safety target. The System shall provide the evidence and the documentation to show that the safety targets have been achieved.
450 All risks shall be reduced to at least Tolerable Levels that are ALARP 6 The SSTS must be designed wherever possible so that all risks are no higher than Tolerable and ALARP. If risks cannot be minimised to Tolerable and ALARP through design, other mitigations should be used.
451 The system shall be safe to operate at all expected pressures (20bar-8 bar) 7 The SSTS shall be a capable of operating with the design pressure design envelope of greater than 8 bar and less than 20 bar and have means to isolate and shut itself down when pressures are outwith the design range.

DO NOT progress on to Part 2 until you have completed the development of the OIl SSTS SRD.

Part 2 – Assess Technical Solutions

Hint: Once your SRD table has been finalised, refresh your browser before moving on to Part 2, otherwise your SRD requirements will not appear in the drop down list.

With the completed SRD, use the table below to assess the three technical proposals against your requirements and propose an initial best candidate based on requirement compliance. [Each SRD requirement will appear in the drop down box]
