Overview

System Requirements Document (SRD)

The URD validation criteria are used to inform the development of detailed acceptance criteria contained within the System Requirements Document (SRD) which must be sufficiently comprehensive to provide assurance that the capability requirements will be met under all operational conditions. The SRD is often used to develop the Integrated Test and Acceptance Plan (ITEAP), which details how compliance with each SRD requirement will be demonstrated.

Task Description

Your team must now develop SRD requirements, building upon on the Scenario Description and your URD requirements.

Part 1 – Develop SRD

Using the:

Populate the SRD table with Safety Requirements, noting that:

      • Each URD Safety Requirement should have one or more associated SRD Safety Requirements
      • Additional URD Safety Requirements may need to be added, to support SRD requirements identified later in the acquisition process.

To help develop a set of SRD Safety Requirements to support the workshop, you may want to include some of the following URD requirements in your SRD table.

      • The system shall be developed to recognised safety standards
      • The Target Safety Objective for the project shall be <1E-6 catastrophic repercussions per year
      • All risks shall be reduced to at least Tolerable Levels that are ALARP
      • The system shall be safe to operate at all expected pressures (<20bar>8bar)
      • The system shall provide for safe & environmentally compliant disposal of non oil product (Gas and Water)
      • The system shall comply with applicable safety legislation
      • The system shall be able to be isolated from the well head within 10 seconds
      • The system shall be able to be isolated from the tanker within 10 seconds
      • The system shall includes means to prevent overpressure

The system shall includes means to prevent over pressure

URD Table (previously populated)

wdt_ID URD ID User Requirement Type of URD (Safety/Performance) Safety Thresholds / Targets Rationale for Requirement
419 1 The User requires a isolation period no longer than 10s Safety Less than 10 seconds Isolation Period Rapid isolation reduces chance of fire / leaks explosions, The Offshore Installations (Offshore Safety Directive) (Safety Case etc.) Regulations 2015
420 2 The User requires a monitoring system when burning gas Safety Discharge rate no less than 0.003 PPM / CM3 Non-contact sensors provide real-time data for continuous monitoring, combustion analysis, and emissions control, which is crucial for safety and regulatory compliance.
430 3 The user requires SSTS to withstand pressures from 08>20bar (working pressure) Safety Safety factors to be applicable with DEF-STAN 123 - Clause 25. Comply with DEF-STAN 123 - Clause 25.
431 4 The user requires a Knock out drum vessel that separates liquids from gases before they reach the flare stack. Safety Threshold less than 3mls per minute In alignment with Oil and Gases regulatory compliance
432 5 The user requires Noise levels emitted to comply with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations Safety No more than 85dbs Comply with HSE legislation
433 6 The user requires the super structure to be coated in corrosive restant paint Safety Painted every 6 months Ensure longevity of the super structure in a marine environment

SRD Table (To be populated)

wdt_ID URD (Safety Requirement) SRD ID SRD (Safety Requirement)
485 The User requires a isolation period no longer than 10s 1 The system requires an isolation period of no longer than 10s at the wellhead and tanker
506 The User requires a monitoring system when burning gas 2 The flame tower requires a monitoring system when burning gas
507 The user requires SSTS to withstand pressures from 08bar<20bar (working pressure) 3 The system shall be safe to operate at all expected pressures (8bar)
508 The user requires a Knock out drum vessel that separates liquids from gases before they reach the flare stack. 4 The system requires a Knock out drum that separates liquids from gases before they reach the flare stack.
509 The user requires Noise levels emitted to comply with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 5 The system requires Noise levels emitted to comply with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations
510 The user requires the super structure to be coated in corrosive restant paint 6 The system requires the super structure to be coated in corrosive restant paint

DO NOT progress on to Part 2 until you have completed the development of the OIl SSTS SRD.

Part 2 – Assess Technical Solutions

Hint: Once your SRD table has been finalised, refresh your browser before moving on to Part 2, otherwise your SRD requirements will not appear in the drop down list.

With the completed SRD, use the table below to assess the three technical proposals against your requirements and propose an initial best candidate based on requirement compliance. [Each SRD requirement will appear in the drop down box]
