The Ship Safety and Environmental Management Training (SEMT) Course is recognised by the UK Defence Maritime Regulator (DMR) as the established pathway for UK MOD personnel and international delegates to qualify as Maritime Safety Supervised Practitioners.
This 5 day SQEP 2 training course covers the essential elements of UK Defence Maritime Safety Management, in accordance with the requirements of DSA01.1 – Defence Policy for Health, Safety and Environmental Protection, and DSA02-DMR – MOD Shipping Regulations for Safety and Environmental Protection. Prior to enrolling on the SEMT course, it is recommended that you discuss with your line manager the time necessary to complete the SEMT course:- Up to 2 hours of pre-reading.
- 5 days of online lessons and workshops, from 0930 to 1600 each day. It is recommended that delegates keep their schedule free up to 1630 to allow for overrun, questions, etc.
- Up to 2 hours to complete a mid-week review of a maritime safety case report. This review can start after the end of the course on Tuesday and must be completed by Thursday lunchtime.
- Up to 1 day for the SEMT Assessment
- Revision time, as necessary, prior to the multiple choice paper.
- 20 minutes to complete a multiple choice paper. If you fail the paper, further time should be set assign for revision and to complete another 20 minute multiple choice paper.
- Up to 5 hours to complete an essay style question paper, within two weeks of the course completing.
